The discipline

Instrumentation engineering is concerned with measurement, sensors, control and automation. It combines electronics, mechanics and computing to monitor and regulate physical processes.

Study and practice

Study in this discipline develops the ability to select sensors, design measurement systems, tune control loops and work with industrial automation. Practitioners work in process industries, manufacturing, energy, robotics and control system design.
